You may have heard the amazing amount of rare birds being seen at Santa Margarita Ranch in south Texas, Brown Jay, Bare-throated Tiger Heron, Crane Hawk, Rose-throated Becard, Dusky-capped Flycatcher, and more.  It is a private ranch and access is limited, but I have permission from the owner to guide people on the ranch.  If you are interested in visiting this fantastic birding location please send me a message.

Magee Marsh & Grayling, MI for incredible birds (and famous Michigan fudge)!   Neotropical migrants return during the height of spring migration to “the Warbler Capital of the World” – Magee Marsh in Ohio. Large numbers of warblers, vireos, orioles, thrushes, and cuckoos drop in for excellent up-close opportunities.  In Michigan our target is the endangered Kirtland’s Warbler.

Minnesota / North Dakota:
 Breeding season offers a great opportunity to see some species that are typically difficult to find.  A possible 17 species of sparrows and 25 species of warblers and maybe the Yellow Rail.
We'll visit the Prairie potholes that Chris Gunter discussed at the March Wimberley Birding Society mtg. The U.S. part of the potholes region provides habitat for 40 species of breeding waterbirds.

Saskatchewan

​Join me and let's explore one of Canada's least populated provinces, Saskatchewan, located at the edge of the prairie and boreal forest, just north of eastern MT and western ND.
On this tour we will visit two main different habitat types, starting off with the prairie habitats of Grassland National Park, and finishing off with boreal forests at Prince Albert National Park. The two regions have very different breeding bird species. We can hope to see 150-175 species of birds on this tour, as well as  Moose; American Elk; Pronghorn; Black Bear & American Badger

 A relaxing escape from the hotter part of Summer.  Birding is the primary purpose of this trip and certain difficult birds like White-tailed Ptarmigan and Brown-capped Rosy-Finch become more attainable, as well as  the endemic Gunnison Sage-grouse and many others.
